Latest News

  • Our latest walk took us on a fantastic 11.5-mile circular route around the beautiful countryside surrounding Helmsley. The walk offered a wonderful mix of peaceful woodland, scenic forestry tracks, open farmland and the picturesque Riccal Dale, with stunning views across the Vale of Pickering providing the perfect backdrop throughout the day. A well-earned alfresco lunch gave everyone the chance to relax and recharge before enjoying the final section of the walk back into Helmsley. With the weather on our side and plenty of opportunities to take in the scenery, it was a thoroughly enjoyable day from start to finish. As always, the great company and friendly atmosphere made the day even more special, and many of the group rounded it off with a well-deserved drink in one of Helmsley's pubs or cafés. Thank you to everyone who joined us—we look forward to seeing you on the next adventure.
  • Our next walk on 2nd August 2026 is an enjoyable 11-mile point-to-point journey from West Yorkshire into South Yorkshire, taking us through a varied landscape of peaceful woodland, open countryside and historic trails. The route passes through several beautiful wooded areas, including Perkin Wood, Stony Cliffe Wood and Stocksmoor Nature Reserve, where we may even spot the resident Highland cattle. As the walk unfolds, we'll be rewarded with far-reaching views across the surrounding countryside, including the iconic Emley Moor Mast. A real highlight of the day is our route through Bretton Country Park, home to the renowned Yorkshire Sculpture Park. Along the way we'll pass the impressive Cascade Bridge, catch a glimpse of the striking Seated Man sculpture, and enjoy the unique combination of nature, history and art that makes this area so special. Our lunch stop will be at the Cherry Tree Pub in High Hoyland, offering fantastic views across the valley towards Cannon Hall and the surrounding countryside. For those who would prefer a shorter walk, there will be the option to finish at the lunch stop, relax and enjoy the fantastic views across the valley and the surrounding countryside while waiting for the coach. After lunch, we'll continue through more woodland and across open fields before following the historic Silkstone Waggonway, where remnants of the old horse-drawn railway and its fascinating industrial past can still be seen. Our walk finishes at Pot House Bridge, where those wishing to can round off the day with refreshments at the café. With a great mix of scenery, local history and points of interest, this promises to be another enjoyable day out for the group.
  • Sunday 6th September 2026 – The Water Way Walk will be taking place as part of Goole’s Bicentenary celebrations, celebrating the town’s rich waterway heritage and offering walkers the chance to explore the waterways and historic transport links that have helped shape Goole over the last 200 years.
  • Sweyne Coaches have requested that no food and drink is consumed on the bus. This is due to vermin at the depot who are attracted to dropped crumbs on the coaches.
